Fungi of Manning ParkRevised September 11, 2011
Copyright © 2011 Kent Brothers.  Please do not publish or distribute without permission of the author.

This is a list of fungi (640 species in 240 genera & 90 families) reported to occur in Manning Park of British Columbia, excluding lichens, yeasts, molds, powdery mildews, & zoogenic fungi.

A five-year inventory of fungal species in Manning Park was conducted by the Vancouver Mycological Society beginning in September 2004. Prior to this study 215 species had been reported for the Park, and the study added 425 species. 174 specimens for 72 of the previously reported species and 490 specimens for 278 of the newly reported species have been deposited into the UBC Herbarium.

This list should be used with caution for scientific purposes, e.g. for species distribution. Absence of a report does not mean that the fungus does not occur in Manning Park, and specimens that have been collected may have been misidentified. For scientific purposes it would be prudent to check the vouchered specimens.

Taxonomy, mostly following Index Fungorum (www.indexfungorum.org), is believed to be current as of the date above.
Higher ranks are indicated by letter codes: P = phylum   P- = subphylum   C = class   C- = subclass   O = order
Family names are on the left, generic names appear in boldface (with subgenera in parentheses), and specific names follow.
Family names are in alphabetic order except for

Genus and species names are in alphabetical order.

A species is preceded by "cf" if none of the specimens reported/collected either during the study or in the herbaria, that were thought to be the named species, had the genus/species confirmed. It is preceded by "(cf)" if none of the specimens reported/collected for the study had genus/species confirmed but there is an unquestioned report/collection prior to the study.
Selected synonyms are indicated by '='.
Single quotes (') around a species name indicates that the name is possibly being misapplied to what occurs here, or that in actuality it is an unresolved species complex.
A small 'd' in front of a name indicates that there was a specimen in the Pacific Forestry Centre's Forest Pathology (DAVFP) Herbarium prior to the study.
A small 'u' in front of a name indicates that there was a specimen in the UBC Herbarium prior to the study.
A small 'U' in front of a name indicates that a specimen from the study was deposited into the UBC Herbarium.
A '+' in front of a name indicates that the taxon is newly reported from the study and a specimen was deposited in the UBC Herbarium.
A '−' in front of a name indicates that the taxon was reported prior to the study but was not found during the study. The absence of a '−' indicates that the taxon was found.
A highlighted name indicates that the taxon is newly reported from the study but a specimen was not deposited into the UBC Herbarium and the taxon is therefore a priority for future collection.
